Farm Fresh Produce

Offering locally farmed produce since 1964
                                            HISTORY
Workman Farms began as a small produce stand in 1964 in the small town of Fallon, Nevada.  It was founded by Ted and Edna Workman, long time Fallon residents who shared their love for farming. Ted began growing the famous Hearts O' Gold Cantaloupe after helping a friend raise them. Ted soon realized that the Heart O' Gold cantaloupe was unlike any other; it had an indescribable rich sweetness , vibrant orange flesh and thin rind which caused them to easily crack. Because of this, these melons were difficult raise and ship long distances; which is why you could not find them in your everyday store. These cantaloupes quickly grew in popularity and were highly sought after. With the help of their young children ,Vicki, Eddie, Wade and Neal, the Workman's began selling them; along with a variety of fruits and vegetables, at the produce stand on their farm road.

Over the years, Ted and Edna continued to farm the many acres of land, even planting up to 60 acres of Hearts O' Gold with the help of their son, Wade Workman, and eventually decided to expand their business and moved their stand to the Reno Hwy.

Today, Wade Workman continues to farm the famous Hearts O' Gold cantaloupes, along with a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Although the demand and popularity to buy fresh local produce and the famous Hearts O' Gold cantaloupe has declined over the years, Workman's continues to raise the produce and famous cantaloupes on their farm.
